Networking... why the feminine way?
Because we need spaces where we can recognise ourselves, support each other and reinvent ourselves on our own terms. To find our own "rooms of one's own" with windows onto those of others. NEF is a space for building our home, where we share ideas and ways of doing things, make ourselves visible and learn together so that we can grow and sow together.
Networking is an important tool for positioning yourself in the job market. However, these networks are usually led by and for men. If we run any internet search containing the word "woman", we are very likely to find articles, photos or videos related to aesthetics, beauty or even sexual appeal. Against this backdrop, there are also other entries related to the gender struggle to make women more "visible". There is still a long way to go when it comes to women's professional development and entrepreneurship. Add to this the gender digital divide.
That is why, at Fundación Siglo22, we want to create feminine networking networks, in order to make women visible and empower them through the use of ICT. We do so through the current experiences of women online and the networking methodology, to build a network of mutual support.
How do we do it?
- By building networks of trust.
- By looking at the digital divide from a gender perspective and providing solutions and training.
- By reflecting on the presence and participation of women in the Information and Knowledge Society.
- By sharing experiences of professional women's networks.
- By developing strategies to boost women's confidence and self-assurance in the professional sphere.
- By building alliances among ourselves to sow and grow new projects.
Seed group
NEF 2.0 set out in November 2020 with a root group of six women who were aware that they needed to build networks of support, care and respect in order to move forward and find their place in this volatile, ever-changing world we live in.
From this seed group we keep growing and weaving ourselves ever more into a close-knit network of women who grow, share and nourish one another. Our Networking en Femenino starts from a set of shared values in which every participant feels at home.
